BEIRUT, December 4. /TASS/. Officers and cadets from Syria’s military academy named after Hafez Assad, who were surrounded by militants southeast of Aleppo, have broken through the encirclement in coordination with the Russian military, the Syrian army command said in a statement.
According to the statement, published on Facebook (prohibited in Russia due to its ownership by Meta, which is designated as extremist), "the encirclement was broken by means of political and military coordination between Syria and Russia, and the cadets retreated towards the city of Homs."
According to the Syrian military command, the cadets who suffered wounds in fighting against terrorists would get the necessary medical care in Homs.
On the morning of November 27, units of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group (outlawed in Russia) launched a large-scale attack in northern Syria. According to the Syrian military command, the terrorists targeted villages and towns defended by government forces, as well as military facilities and the Syrian army’s positions. Syrian troops launched an operation to repel the attack. On November 30, the army command said that strikes had been carried out on the positions of militants penetrating many neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo. The Syrian Defense Ministry stated that the army had to regroup in order to protect the lives of civilians and military personnel and prepare for a counterattack.
