Europe interested in Ukraine as subject of confrontation — Iran’s top diplomat

"As far as our cooperation with Russia is concerned I am ready for talks with the Europeans," Abbas Araqchi said

BERLIN, November 9. /TASS/. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has accused the West of double standards, saying that Europe is more likely interested in making Ukraine a subject of confrontation, not cooperation.

"On Ukraine we have offered talks to Europe. However, if the Europeans are more likely interested in making Ukraine a subject of confrontation, not cooperation, this is your choice, not ours," he said in an interview with Germany’s Der Spiegel. "As far as our cooperation with Russia is concerned I am ready for talks with the Europeans. Let’s enter into a dialogue and prevent sanctions," the minister added.

"Sanctions only complicate problems, they have never facilitated solution of any problem, at least in Iran," he noted, adding that sanctions "did not work in the past, they do not work now and they will not start working in the future.".
