IDF detains over 7,800 Palestinians in West Bank since October 7 — TV

It is reported that a total of 3,600 people were detained in the West Bank and Jordan Valley on accusations of engagement in terrorist activities

DUBAI, April 1. /TASS/. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) detained 7,895 Palestinians in the West Bank, the Al Mayadeen TV channel reported.

According to it, this number includes those detained in their own houses, at military checkpoints or who surrendered under pressure.

The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following an incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7, accompanied by killings of residents of Israeli settlements near the border and taking more than 200 hostages, including children, women and elderly people. Hamas cast the attack as a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and started striking the enclave and parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.

According to the IDF press service, a total of 3,600 people were detained in the West Bank and Jordan Valley on accusations of engagement in terrorist activities. Over 1,600 of them are suspected of relations with Hamas.
