SCO Security Council Secretaries to discuss deterioration in Afghanistan in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, March 28. /TASS/. Secretaries of security councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states will discuss, as well as combating terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime during the annual meeting in New Delhi, a source told TASS Tuesday.

"The meeting [in New Delhi] is particularly important, because the agenda includes such issues as the deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan, as well as terrorism, illegal drug circulation and organized crime," he said.

Earlier, the Russian Security Council press office said that the Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev will visit India to take part in the meeting of SCO Security Council Secretaries on March 29.

The SCO is an international organization, founded in 2001. It currently includes Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

In early February, multilateral consultations on Afghanistan took place in Moscow, attended by national security advisors or Security Council secretaries from India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
