CHISINAU, March 15. /TASS/. Chisinau does not accept the position of investigators from the unrecognized Republic of Transnistria who believe that the Ukrainian Security Service plotted a terrorist attack against OSCE officials in Tiraspol, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian said.
"We have no doubt that Ukraine could not be behind the would-be attack. Ukraine has no motive, but it has enough problems of its own without creating another one. Those who insist on the so-called Ukrainian roots of the terrorist attack seek to tarnish Ukraine’s image," Serebrian, who heads the Moldovan government’s Bureau of Reintegration, pointed out in an interview with the Rlive TV channel.
He added, however, that he did not know the details of what happened. Moldovan authorities requested additional information from Tiraspol.
On Tuesday, Transnistrian Prosecutor General Anatoly Guretsky announced that those suspected of plotting a terrorist attack on the republic’s leadership initially planned to target a delegation of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) that visited Transnistria on February 14. The delegation included, among others, North Macedonian Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, who is the current OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, as well as OSCE Special Representative for Transnistria Thomas Mayr-Harting and Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Kelly Keiderling. Media reports say that two suspects have been detained and are cooperating with the investigation. According to Guretsky, the perpetrator realized at the last moment that he could be eliminated afterwards. Transnistrian President Vadim Krasnoselsky stated that the act of sabotage had been masterminded by Ukrainian Security Service officers.
