Putin pledges state support to families of fallen heroes in special military operation

Russian President received families of fallen soldiers at his presidential residence in Novo-Ogaryovo outside Moscow

NOVO-OGARYOVO, January 7. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised that the government will support the families of heroes, who died during a special military operation.

Putin received families of fallen soldiers at his presidential residence in Novo-Ogaryovo outside Moscow and congratulated them with Orthodox Christmas.

"I would like our meeting to be a clear and comprehensible signal to all of my colleagues throughout the vast territory of the Russian Federation, and at all levels, so that it would be a clear signal that my colleagues, I repeat, at each level of the government, would always be with you, so that you would always feel that there are people around you who can support you, help you, and render assistance if you need it," he said.

Putin noted that "life is complex, diverse" and there are often cases, when the support from the outside is needed.

"I hope that this is how it will be. I congratulate you once again [with Christmas] and wish you all the best," he said adding that on the eve of the holiday he would rather not talk about "very sensitive and hard issues" regarding families received at his residence in Novo-Ogaryovo.

"But I want to assure you once again that we will always be there for you," Putin added.

Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that on the eve of the holiday Putin had "a fairly thorough conversation with the families, talked to both widows and children" in Novo-Ogaryovo, and afterwards invited them to a festive dinner.
