Another 117 Russians evacuated from Gaza Strip to return home – Emergencies ministry

The operational group of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Egypt continues to work to receive people who have passed the Rafah checkpoint

MOSCOW, November 19. /TASS/. A special flight of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations will bring another 117 Russians and members of their families evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Moscow, the ministry’s press service told TASS.

"The next special flight of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations will deliver another 117 Russian citizens and members of their families to Moscow. The operational group of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Egypt continues to work to receive people who have passed the Rafah checkpoint. In total, more than 550 people have been evacuated from the conflict zone so far," the press service said.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations added that Russian citizens and members of their families who crossed the border in buses are sent in a single convoy to Cairo, where Russian rescuers, psychologists and doctors provide all the necessary medical and psychological assistance, provide food and water.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with the Russian Foreign Ministry, continues to work on the evacuation of Russians, which began on November 12. Four special flights have already delivered 408 people to Moscow. On Sunday, the fourth group of 120 people arrived.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier that over 1,000 people had applied for evacuation. Increasingly more Russians are seeking to evacuate the enclave, the Russian Emergencies Ministry said as it pledged every effort to evacuate everyone wishing to leave.
