Truck drivers obliged to book border crossing date, time — law

These rules will come into force from September 1

MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law binding truck drivers to book date and time to cross the Russian border, with the relevant document posted on Friday.

The queue management system will operate in line with a procedure to be set forth by the Russian Government. It will comprise a list of documents required for booking, a procedure of border crossing control in indicated time and categories of motor vehicles able to drive through checkpoints without standing in queue. The Government is also to provide for a procedure of vehicles staying along the road to ensure the possibility of driving along it.

The Cabinet will approve requirements to infrastructure development for road segments near border crossing points. In particular, this refers to parking areas in the immediate vicinity of border crossing entries, with hard pavement, lighting, refuse bins, free toilets and technical aids making possible to book dates and time of state border crossing.

These rules will come into force from September 1.
