LONDON, February 9. /TASS/. Roger Waters, a founder of the UK rock legend Pink Floyd, said that he has changed his mind about Russian President Vladimir Putin. He made it clear in an interview with the Daily Telegraph newspaper published on Wednesday.
"Yes, an article I wrote about three months ago calling Vladimir Putin a gangster… That may have been unfair," the musician said. He explained that he’d become a keen listener to The Duran, a podcast spin-off from a website that has published blogs linked to the anti-NATO hacking group Ghostwriter.
"After hearing their take on Russia, Waters now has more respect for Putin," the Daily Telegraph wrote.
"It may be that he’s leading his country to the benefit of all of the people of Russia," Waters noted in an interview with the British newspaper.
On Wednesday, Waters took part in the Russia-convened UN Security Council on Ukraine speaking via a videoconference link. Russia convened the meeting to discuss the fact that the West’s supplies of weapons to Kiev make a peaceful settlement of the conflict difficult to achieve. In his speech, Waters called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine.
