Lavrov to meet with head of Cuba's National Assembly in Moscow on March 26

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that the head of the Cuban National Assembly will visit Russia at the invitation of the State Duma

MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. Russia's top diplomat Sergey Lavrov is scheduled to meet with Esteban Lazo Hernandez, the President of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power, in Moscow on March 26, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced at a briefing.

"On March 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is scheduled to meet with one of the key figures of the Cuban leadership - President of the National Assembly of People's Power and State Council of the Republic of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez," the diplomat reported.

Zakharova noted that the head of the Cuban National Assembly will visit Russia at the invitation of the State Duma. "In the spirit of our close strategic partnership and regular, trustful dialogue, the Russian foreign minister and Lazo Hernandez will discuss the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation, promoting trade and economic ties, as well as scientific, technical, cultural, and humanitarian collaboration. They will also address the implementation of priority joint projects," the diplomat said.

She also stated that Russia's top diplomat and the president of Cuba's National Assembly "will discuss key international issues, focusing on the inadmissibility of interference in the domestic affairs of sovereign states" and the non-recognition of pressure through illegal sanctions "aimed at punishing so-called undesirable governments." The two sides will also address enhancing cooperation between the two countries on multilateral platforms, the spokeswoman added.
