Ex-Ukrainian leader declares critical frontline situation

Recently, the Ukrainian military leadership has been increasingly discussing the difficult operational and strategic situation Kiev’s army is facing

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. The situation along the entire frontline is now critical for Kiev's army, former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko said, speaking at the Verkhovna Rada.

"The situation on the frontline is critical, including in the Pokrovsk direction, as well as in Chasov Yar, Kupyansk, the Kharkov Region, and Kursk. The army needs money, ammunition and defense means," Poroshenko said in a speech, an excerpt of which was published on his Telegram channel. The former president also resented the fact that the parliament addresses social problems, construction and restoration of the energy industry instead of ensuring supplies for the army.

Recently, the Ukrainian military leadership has been increasingly discussing the difficult operational and strategic situation Kiev’s army is facing. It is experiencing personnel shortages, which the authorities are unsuccessfully attempting to compensate for by intensifying mobilization and transferring niche specialists from technologically advanced units, particularly air defense divisions, to assault brigades. Desertion, at times on a massive scale, has become a serious concern. Meanwhile, Kiev is trying to shift the responsibility for the failures of the Ukrainian armed forces onto its Western partners, accusing them of untimely and insufficient arms deliveries.
