Moscow doing everything to bring Russian citizens back home — Kremlin spokesman

According to Dmitry Peskov, the return of the Kursk residents "was the result of very challenging negotiations"

MOSCOW, November 25. /TASS/. The Russian authorities are taking all necessary measures to bring back every Russian citizen, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on the return of 46 residents from the Kursk Region who had been in Ukraine.

"Everything possible is being done to ensure that all our citizens return home," he stated.

According to Peskov, the return of the Kursk residents "was the result of very challenging negotiations." "These challenging negotiations were and continue to be conducted through specific channels," he added.

Russian Human Rights Ombudsperson Tatyana Moskalkova announced on November 2 that 46 residents of Russia’s bordering Kursk Region had returned home following talks with Ukraine. Moskalkova emphasized that Ukrainian forces had taken these people from the Kursk Region after launching an incursion into Russia in August. Among those who returned to Russia are 12 children, including a newborn and a toddler, as well as a person in a wheelchair.

According to the ombudsperson, the humanitarian operation was made possible through cooperation with the Russian Presidential Administration, the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian Foreign Ministry, and Belarusian authorities. She specifically highlighted the involvement of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Russian Red Cross chief Pavel Savshuk clarified that essential humanitarian aid had been arranged for those returning, with psychologists and experts from an agency focused on restoring family links available to offer their services.
