Russia uses effective strategies on battlefield, Ukrainian expert admits

According to Ivan Stupak, Russian reconnaissance drones are extensively patrolling the battlefield and transmit data on Ukrainian targets to Russian missile crews, as they reach behind Ukrainian lines

NEW YORK, March 15. /TASS/. The strategy Russia is using to hit key targets in the Ukraine conflict zone has proved effective, Newsweek quoted Ivan Stupak, advisor to the Verkhovna Rada’s national security, defense and intelligence committee, as saying.

"Russia has rolled out new strategies on the battlefield, that have proved to be effective," the Ukrainian military expert told Newsweek.

According to him, Russian reconnaissance drones are extensively patrolling the battlefield and transmit data on Ukrainian targets to Russian missile crews, as they reach behind Ukrainian lines. Russian missiles, he said, can then hit these assets within minutes.

Reports saying that Russia has lately destroyed several Abrams tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles and HIMARS multiple rocket launchers in the special military operation zone underscore that "Moscow is having more success taking out Kyiv's equipment," Newsweek writes.

Frederik Mertens, an analyst at the Hague Center for Strategic Studies, believes that the successful Russian strikes on major Ukrainian systems and vital facilities reflect "an adapting Moscow." According to Marina Miron, a postdoctoral researcher with the War Studies Department at King’s College London, Russia has improved its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities through using electronic warfare as well as drones, Newsweek added. "There is a degree of learning and adaptation happening on the battlefield," Miron argues.

On March 14, the head of North American Aerospace Defense Command and US Northern Command (NORAD), Air Force General Gregory Guillot, said that Russia retains "significant capacity to strike inside North America with air and sea launch precision conventional weapons.".
