MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. In October 2026, Europe imported its highest volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the last five months due to the need to accelerate the replenishment of storage reserves ahead of winter, according to TASS calculations based on data from Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).
In October, LNG flows from European terminals into the EU gas transmission system amounted to about 11.1 bln cubic meters, turning out to be 4% higher than in September and 12% less compared to October 2025.
Based on the results for January-October 2026, LNG inflows from terminals into the European gas transmission system slowed down and stood at about 112 bln cubic meters, which is already 4% less than in the same period of 2025.
LNG supplies over the 10 months hold the first place by share among Europe's gas sources at 42.4%, according to data from the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) as of October 30, 2026. In second place, with a share of 38.4%, are supplies from the North Sea (mainly Norwegian gas); in third place, with 9.6%, are gas supplies from North Africa; and in fourth place, with 5.9%, are supplies from the East (Russian gas, pipeline supplies via Ukraine, as well as the withdrawal by European companies of their own gas from Ukraine's underground gas storage facilities). Gas supplies from Azerbaijan accounted for 3.6%.
