Shanghai Cooperation Organization chief to visit three Central Asian countries in March

In January and February, Yermekbayev visited Russia, Belarus, and India

BEIJING, March 3. /TASS/. Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Nurlan Yermekbayev will visit Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan in March, the organization’s press service said.

Thus, he will pay visits to Uzbekistan on March 4-7, to Tajikistan on March 14-15, and to Kyrgyzstan on March 17-19. "While touring Central Asian countries, the secretary general will meet with the leaders and foreign ministers of these countries, and will take part in roundtable meetings at the leading analytical centers," it said.

In January and February, Yermekbayev visited Russia, Belarus, and India.

Today, the SCO has ten member states, namely Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan and Mongolia enjoy the observer status and 14 more countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cambodia, Egypt, Kuwait, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates) are dialogue partners.
