Wheat harvest in Ukraine to fall to 20 mln tons in 2025 — expert

According to Vladimir Petrichenko, this is due to insufficient moisture in soil and the winter with little snow, especially in South Ukraine

BELOKURIKHA, February 28. /TASS/. The wheat harvest in Ukraine may decline by 2-3 mln metric tons and stand at about 20 mln metric tons, CEO of Prozerno analytical center Vladimir Petrichenko told TASS on the sidelines of the 18th Grain Conference.

"They had 22.9 mln metric tons of wheat last year," Petrichenko said. "It may decrease to 20 mln metric tons now, that is, 2-3 mln metric tons less than last year," the expert said.

This is due to insufficient moisture in soil and the winter with little snow, especially in South Ukraine, he added. More pessimistic estimates were voiced earlier, that the harvest would plummet to 16-18 mln metric tons, Petrichenko said.
