MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. The GDP of BRICS countries will account for more than half of the global economy in the next 15 years, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

"BRICS is a potentially high volume of global GDP, about 35%, and it is getting bigger and bigger every year. The association includes large countries - Brazil, China. We expect that in the next 10-15 years the share of BRICS countries' GDP will be more than half of the entire global economy," Novak said.

Speaking at the BRICS Business Forum in October 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the share of BRICS countries in the global gross domestic product already exceeds the that one of G7 countries and continues to grow. Putin underscored that BRICS plays a significant role in the global economy not only today. The countries that are part of the association are actually the drivers of global economic growth. It is in BRICS that the main increase in global GDP will be generated in the foreseeable future, the Russian President noted.
