Tourist flow from Russia to Japan up 2.4-fold in 2024, doubles to China — association

The Association of Tour Operators of Russia also expects fresh all-time highs in terms of the Russian tourist flow in 2024 to be hit by the UAE, Thailand, Cuba

MOSCOW, December 23. /TASS/. The tourist flow from Russia to Japan soared 2.4-fold in 2024 compared with 2023, while the tourist flow to China doubled, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said in a statement.

"Tour operators mentioned China (1.95 mln, +101%), Vietnam (0.23 mln, +83.1%), Mauritius (0.28 mln, +82.6%) among the fastest-growing directions. Tour operators also note a substantial increase in demand for tours to Japan (99,000 trips, +135% compared to 2023) and South Korea (195,000, +25.9%)," the statement said.

The association expects fresh all-time highs in terms of the Russian tourist flow in 2024 to be hit by the UAE (1.9 mln trips, up by 10.3% compared with 2023), Thailand (1.74 mln, +17.4%), Cuba (0.2 mln, +8.2%) and the Maldives (0.22 mln, +7.1%).
