Container transportation by rail to reach 10 mln TEU in 2030 — Russian Railways

CEO Oleg Belozerov noted that creation of high capacity container flatcars for the speed of 140 km per hour are good preconditions for achieving this goal

MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. The container traffic over the Russian Railways network can climb to 10 mln TEU [20 ft container equivalent-TASS], CEO Oleg Belozerov said.

"We will continue proactive development of container transportation. Development of a network of terminals and platforms, the return to container transportation in open cars, and creation of high capacity container flatcars for the speed of 140 km per hour are good preconditions for us to cross the psychologically important level of 10 mln TEU in 2030," Belozerov said.

Russian Railways carried 6.52 mln of TEU in 2022.
