KIEV, November 16. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said several reactors at two nuclear power plants in Ukraine shut down automatically amid power outages on Tuesday.
"As a result of strikes, automated systems shut down several <…> power generation units at two [nuclear power] plants today," Zelensky said in a video address, published in his Telegram channel.
According to the president, emergency power outages occurred in many regions of the country on Tuesday, with the regions of Kharkov, Zhitomir, Kiev and Lvov being the hardest hit. Zelensky also reported communication problems all over Ukraine.
"Lvov and other cities had to suspend central heating for a while. The entire country is experiencing telecoms and internet problems," he said.
Blackouts and water supply problems began Tuesday across the entire Ukraine after numerous reports of explosions, including at vital infrastructure facilities. Deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office Kirill Timoshenko said the energy situation in the country is critical.
