MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelensky failed to come up with direct comments on Russia’s proposal to refrain from striking civilian infrastructure, despite being asked twice at a recent news conference.
The first attempt to get him to respond to the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin came from a Politico reporter. Zelensky asked who the question was for, and as the reporter did not answer, he ignored it.
A similar question later came from a reporter with Ukraine’s United24 television channel. Zelensky did not reply directly whether he is ready to discuss the initiative.
"When they (Russians - TASS) make proposals for negotiations, they take America out of the negotiations," he said. "But we are ready to answer for our words. If tomorrow the Russians are not just ready for a ceasefire, but actually do cease fire, we are ready to start negotiations."
Earlier, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow had not received Kiev's reaction to Putin's proposal to halt strikes on civilian infrastructure.
