EU leaders prepare for conflict with Russia, Hungary will not go to war — Orban

While Europe continues to speculate that the Ukrainian conflict could spread across the continent, the Hungarian prime minister dismissed this notion, stating, "This is not true"

BUDAPEST, March 28. /TASS/. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes that European Union leaders are preparing for a military conflict with Russia, despite the absence of any justification for such actions. Speaking on the morning program of Kossuth Radio, Orban asserted that Hungary will not participate in any such conflict.

"I see that Brussels is preparing for war," said Orban. The way he sees it "what is most frightening is what is going on in the minds of these people," referring to EU leaders' calls for citizens to stock up on water, food, and medical supplies to last 72 hours in case of a conflict with Russia.

Orban described these sentiments as both alarming and ridiculous, arguing that they reflect Brussels' own war preparations while being entirely unfounded.

While Europe continues to speculate that the Ukrainian conflict could spread across the continent, Orban dismissed this notion, stating, "This is not true." He contended that such speculations arise solely because "Brussels wants to continue the war" and continues to provide military support for to Ukraine.

"Hungary has remained neutral in this conflict. We stand for peace and are not supplying weapons or sending soldiers to Ukraine. However, there are EU countries that, with Brussels' support, aim to become more involved in the war, and I see that political preparations for such actions are currently underway," Orban stated.

He emphasized that this is why there are calls to keep handy supplies of water, food, medicine, and other essentials for 72 hours in the event of a conflict with Russia. "I want to reassure Hungarian families that they do not need to take extraordinary measures. There is no threat of war. Hungary will not engage in conflict with anyone. We will remain on the side of peace and ensure our safety. If Europe goes to war, we will certainly not participate," Orban assured.
