BERLIN, March 12. /TASS/. The talks between the US and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia could become a "turning point" on the road to peace, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said.
"The outcome of today‘s Ukraine-US talks can become a major turning point in Ukraine‘s quest for lasting peace and security. Germany, together with our partners, will support the Ukrainian people further down this path," the top diplomat wrote on her X page.
On March 11, the US and Ukrainian delegations held talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. They lasted about nine and a half hours. After the talks, a joint statement was published on Vladimir Zelensky's website, according to which Ukraine is ready to accept the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, and Washington will immediately cancel the pause in the provision of intelligence and resume assistance to Kiev. The statement also noted that the sides agreed to sign as soon as possible an agreement on the development of critical mineral resources to strengthen Ukraine's economy.
