Hundreds gather in Munich for rallies against NATO, arms buildup

In total, around 40 demonstrations are planned for this weekend in protest against the militarization of society by Western countries, NATO, and arms supplies to Kiev

MUNICH, February 15. /TASS/. Several demonstrations are taking place in Munich alongside the 61st Security Conference. According to a TASS correspondent, participants are advocating for a peaceful resolution to military conflicts and protesting against the forum currently underway in the Bavarian capital.

Multiple organizations have organized rallies at Karlsplatz Square in the city center. From there, demonstrators will take various routes to the central Marienplatz, where a podium has been set up. The protesters are holding placards with slogans such as "Be Ready for Peace Instead of Being Ready for War," "There Is No Just War," and "To Hell with NATO." Many demonstrators oppose the Western supply of arms to Kiev.

The Munich Security Conference is running from February 14 to 16, with about 60 heads of state and government invited to the Bavarian capital. In response to the events, security has been tightened, with approximately 5,000 police officers deployed to ensure law and order. This increased security follows an incident on February 13, when an Afghan national drove a car into a group of demonstrators, injuring at least 39 people.

In total, around 40 demonstrations are planned for this weekend in protest against the militarization of society by Western countries, NATO, and arms supplies to Kiev.
