MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. US leader Donald Trump called for an early end to military activities in Ukraine in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said after the conversation.
"The parties discussed resolving the situation in Ukraine. President Trump called for ending military activities as soon as possible and resolving the issue through peaceful means," he pointed out.
Putin, in turn, emphasized the need to eliminate the root causes of the conflict and agreed with Trump that "a long-term solution can be achieved through peace talks."
According to official information, this was the first conversation between Putin and Trump since July 2020, and also the first communication between the leaders of Russia and the United States since Putin’s call with Joe Biden in February 2022.
