NEW YORK, December 16. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump announced "a little progress" in efforts to settle the conflict in Ukraine.
"We're trying to help very strongly in getting the hostages back, as you know, with Israel and the Middle East. We're working very much on that. We're trying to get the war stopped, that horrible, horrible war that's going on in Ukraine," he said in comments at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. "We've got a little progress."
He didn’t elaborate.
On December 7, Trump met with Zelensky for the first time after winning the election. According to Reuters, the head of the Kiev regime insisted that the West provide Ukraine with security guarantees after the end of the conflict, while the US president-elect reiterated that he wanted an immediate ceasefire and start of negotiations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier named the conditions for settling the conflict, which included withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbass and Novorossiya, an end to Kiev's aspirations to join NATO, lifting all Western sanctions against Moscow and Ukraine’s commitment to uphold a non-aligned and nuclear-free status.
