Trump team could reject Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO — report

According to the report, the move could prompt Russia to agree to talks on settling the Ukrainian conflict

NEW YORK, December 14. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump's team will likely reject Ukraine's aspirations to join NATO, NBC News reported, citing sources.

According to the report, the move could prompt Russia to agree to talks on settling the Ukrainian conflict.

While on the campaign trail, Trump repeatedly said he would find a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis even before his inauguration.

Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier named the conditions for settling the conflict, which included withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas and Novorossiya, an end to Kiev's aspirations to join NATO, lifting all Western sanctions against Moscow and Ukraine’s commitment to uphold a non-aligned and nuclear-free status.
