Israeli strikes on Lebanon claim six lives — Health Ministry

"The strike targeted a residential building housing displaced persons," the department said

BEIRUT, December 8. /TASS/. Israeli Air Force drone strikes on two areas in southern Lebanon have caused civilian casualties, according to the emergency response center under Lebanon's Health Ministry.

"Five dead and five injured, including children, were reported in the Beit Lif locality," the center stated in a summary posted on its X page. "The strike targeted a residential building housing displaced persons," the department added.

Another person was killed during an Israeli attack on the town of Deir Siryan, raising the total number of Lebanese casualties over the day to six.

On December 4, Lebanon's Acting Minister of Health, Firass Abiad, reported casualties resulting from Israeli bombing and shelling since the start of the military escalation in October 2023. He stated that the death toll from Israeli attacks had reached 4,047, with 16,593 people wounded.

According to the official, the number of casualties has increased from 645 to 3,402, while the number of injured has risen from 1,983 to 14,655 since the intense bombardment of Beirut and other cities began on September 15.
