Arab, Islamic states to seek restriction of arms exports to Israel — report

The participants of the summit also underscore the need to ensure the protection of maritime transport corridors

DOHA, November 11. /TASS/. The Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states will exert their efforts to restrict arms exports to Israel, says the draft statement of the summit in Riyadh, the Al Hadath TV channel reported.

According to the report, the document points out that the participants of the summit "will work on prohibition of export of weapons to Israel." They will also underscore the need to ensure the protection of maritime transport corridors.

The Arab League and the OIC member states intend to provide humanitarian aid to the government of Lebanon and to take measures to ensure that "friendly states could support" the republic’s economy.

The second emergency summit of the Arab League and OIC member states, dedicated to the situation in the Middle East, takes place in Riyadh. The participants seek to achieve a common position regarding the conflicts in the Gaza Strip and in Lebanon, discuss measures to protect and support the civilians and try to exert pressure on the international community in order to end the Israel’s aggression.
