CAIRO, November 6. /TASS/. Commenting on Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election, the Palestinian Hamas movement called on the new US administration to cease its support for Israel in a statement published on its official Telegram channel.
"We demand an end to blind military and political support for Israel, and call on the new US administration to recognize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people," the document said. Hamas emphasized that its supporters believe the new president "should understand that Palestinians will continue to oppose occupation and will not accept any situation diminishing their freedom and right to self-determination."
The organization also stated that its members’ approach to the new US leader "will depend entirely on his stance and the practical steps he takes regarding Palestine." Hamas added that it expects the US president-elect to make "significant efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as to stop Israeli aggression against Lebanon."
