Swedish prosecutor says state sponsored group behind Nord Stream blasts

On September 27 last year, Nord Stream AG reported unprecedented damage that occurred the day before on three strings of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 offshore gas pipelines

MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. The Swedish prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist investigating the Nord Stream sabotage believes that a state sponsored group was most likely behind the blasts.

"The clear main scenario" is that a state sponsored group was behind the sabotage, with an independent group still "theoretically possible" as well, he told Reuters on Thursday.

Prosecutor also told the agency that the type of explosive used in the bombings ruled out "a large portion of actors."

Earlier, Ljungqvist said that it remained unclear for Swedish authorities who was behind the Nord Stream sabotage, adding that the investigation into pipeline blasts continued.

On September 27 last year, Nord Stream AG reported unprecedented damage that occurred the day before on three strings of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 offshore gas pipelines. On September 26, Swedish seismologists registered two explosions on pipeline routes. Russia’s Prosecutor General's Office launched criminal proceedings over an act of international terrorism.
