ANKARA, March 10. /TASS/. Turkey plans to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on May 14, the president of the country’s Supreme Election Council, Ahmet Yener, told reporters on Friday.
The second round of the presidential elections, if needed, will be held on May 28, he said.
"We have received the presidential order calling general elections for May 14. If presidential elections require a second round, it will take place on May 28," the official said.
Turkish incumbent President Tayyip Erdogan, whose term expires in June, on Friday signed an executive order calling general elections for May 14. A government newspaper has published the order in a special issue.
Originally, Turkish elections were planned to take place on June 18.
