Swedish military claim Russian plane violated the country’s airspace

Swedish fighter jets monitored the situation and made photographs of the plane, the Air Force said in a statement

STOCKHOLM, May 1. /TASS/. The Swedish Air Force said on Saturday a Russian An-30 plane briefly violated the kingdom’s airspace in the early hours of Friday.

"A Russian An-30 turboprop plane violated the Swedish airspace overnight into Friday. The plane was flying east of Bornholm (an island in Denmark), and then headed towards the territory of Sweden. The plane briefly violated the airspace of Sweden and then left this area," the Swedish Air Force said in a statement.

Swedish fighter jets monitored the situation and made photographs of the plane.

In turn, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde said it was "unacceptable of Russia to violate Swedish airspace." "Swedish territorial integrity should always be respected," she wrote on Twitter.

The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly said that all planes of the Russian Aerospace Forces perform their flights in strict compliance with international rules of airspace use.
