BEIJING, March 31. /TASS/. The participants of the Third Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan have urged the government formed by the Taliban movement (outlawed in Russia) to distance itself from the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, outlawed in Russia) and other terrorist organizations active in the country, according to a statement by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi published on Thursday.
"A general concern was expressed over the potency of terrorist organizations acting within the borders of Afghanistan. We are urging Afghanistan to actually dissociate from the IS, the Eastern Turkestan Islamic Movement (outlawed in Russia - TASS) and other terrorist organizations and decisively combat them until [the country] is completely purged," the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s statement quoted him as saying.
On February 14, 2003, the Russian Supreme Court declared the Taliban movement a terrorist organization. The extremist organization’s activities are outlawed in Russia.
On December 29, 2014, the Russian Supreme Court declared the Islamic State - IS - (before 2014 - the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIS) a terrorist organization. The extremist organization’s activities are outlawed in Russia.
