The Pentagon has lifted the lock down and has reopened

WASHINGTON, August 3. /TASS/. The suspected assailant who opened fire near the Pentagon building was shot by police, the newspaper Politico reported on Tuesday, citing a Pentagon Force Protection Agency official.

The gunman was shot by a Pentagon police officer and did not get into the Pentagon building, the paper said. 

One other officer was injured in the gunfire and was taken to hospital. As of now, there are no additional suspects, he added.

The Pentagon has lifted the lock down and has reopened, the Pentagon Force Protection Agency said on its Twitter.

The local TV Channel WDVM reported earlier on Tuesday, citing emergency services that three people were injured in the shooting incident, including an officer.
