MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. The human rights ombudspersons of Russia and Ukraine have agreed to conduct monthly humanitarian missions to Alyoshki, with the assistance of US First Lady Melania Trump, Russia Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova said.
"My counterpart [Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets] and I agreed <...> in our thank-you address to US First Lady Melania Trump that such missions will be conducted regularly, at least once a month, in order to provide humanitarian aid to Alyoshki in the Kherson Region, with the first lady’s coordination and mediation," she said.
According to Lantratova, Russian service members had previously delivered humanitarian aid to Alyoshki but there is still a need for medicines, fuel and other supplies.
The Russian official compared human rights work to the work of doctors. "A doctor must always provide assistance, and this also applies to human rights workers to a certain extent," she said.
"My counterpart and I share the same goal - to make sure that our guys return home and that civilians receive assistance," Lantratova stressed.
According to her, the mission was largely regarded as a humanitarian one. "We have agreed to review everything, assess what difficulties arose and determine what should be corrected or changed. We will examine the situation and then make further decisions," she concluded.
