MOSCOW, December 31. /TASS/. On New Year’s Eve, Father Frost will have only 0.0095 seconds to visit each child aged 5-9 in Russia, according to Artur Davtyan, a researcher at the Institute of Computer Sciences and Telecommunications at RUDN University.
There are approximately 9,073,878 children aged 5-9 in Russia who may still believe in Father Frost, the expert explained, citing data provided by Rosstat.
"There are 24 hours, or 86,400 seconds, in a day. To calculate the time Father Frost can spend per child, we divide the total seconds by the number of children. The result is less than 1 second per child," the researcher told TASS.
Davtyan also calculated how long it would take for Father Frost to personally hear each Russian child recite a poem. “Assuming each meeting lasts 5 minutes, Father Frost would require 45,369,390 minutes—or about 86.3 years—to greet all the children, light up the Christmas tree, and listen to their performances,” the expert noted.
This math suggests that Father Frost must rely on assistants, as visiting every child personally would otherwise be impossible, Davtyan concluded.
