KOROLEV /Moscow Region/, October 27. /TASS/. Members of the BRICS group of nations and other countries are interested in Russia’s Sfera project, the head of Russia’s state-run space corporation Roscosmos, Yury Borisov, said on Friday.

"Yes, [friendly nations] are showing [interest]. BRICS countries are interested and ready to work with us. We are engaged in intense work with our BRICS partners. Many African states are also demonstrating interest in the development of the satellite sector," he told reporters after a meeting on space industry chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the Sfera program during a call-in show on June 7, 2018. It seeks to launch satellites for communications and the remote sensing of Earth. According to former Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Rogozin, the program will create five satellite constellations for telecom services and five more for remote sensing. The first satellite under the program, the Skif-D, was launched on October 22, 2022.
