Russian Aerospace Forces shot down two Su-25s of Ukrainian Air Force

MOSCOW, May 28. /TASS/. Russian air defense systems shot down Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter in the Zaporozhye region and intercepted a Tochka-U ballistic missile in the region of the Donetsk People’s Republic, official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov announced on Saturday.

"Russian air defense systems shot down Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter near the village of Orekhovo, Zaporozhye region," he said.

He added that aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces hit six command posts, four ammunition depots and two Grad MLRS batteries in a day. "Operational-tactical and army aviation hit six command posts, a communications center, four ammunition warehouses, two Grad MLRS batteries, as well as 50 areas of concentration of forces and Ukrainian military equipment in a day. As a result of air strikes, more than 260 nationalists were eliminated," Konashenkov said.

At the same time, the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down two Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Kherson and Kharkov regions in the air over the day. "Fighter aircraft shot down two Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the air over the settlements of Zagradovka in the Kherson region and Barvenkovo in the Kharkov region," he said.

Russian artillery and missile forces hit more than 600 areas of concentration of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and more than 40 artillery and mortar units, Major General announced.

"Missile troops and artillery hit 57 command posts, 618 areas of concentration of forces and military equipment, 42 Ukrainian artillery and mortar units in firing positions, two batteries of Grad multiple launch rocket systems," he said.

Since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 182 aircraft, 1,045 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), 3,297 armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as 444 multiple rocket launchers, according to official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

"In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the following have been destroyed: 182 aircraft, 128 helicopters, 1,045 unmanned aerial vehicles, 324 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3,297 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 444 multiple rocket launchers, 1,714 field artillery pieces and mortars, as well as 3,245 special military vehicles," he said.
