EU criticism of US-Russia diesel deal hypocritical — presidential envoy

Thus Kirill Dmitriev commented on Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak’s statement that Europe had received $320.7 billion worth of Russian energy supplies since 2022

MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. European officials’ criticism of the US-Russia diesel deal is hypocritical, Russian Presidential Special Envoy for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev said.

"The astounding hypocrisy of EU bureaucrats who criticize the US-Russia diesel deal," he wrote on X, commenting on Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak’s statement that Europe had received $320.7 billion worth of Russian energy supplies since 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump discussed oil product supplies, among other issues, during a telephone conversation on October 9. According to Putin, Moscow confirmed its readiness to supply oil and oil products to the US and global markets.

Novak said Russia is beginning to lift its diesel export ban ahead of schedule and is ready to supply 300,000 metric tons in October, 500,000 in November and 1 million in December, with a view to eventually increasing shipments to 3 million metric tons per month.

The US administration is exempting Russian diesel supplies to global markets from US sanctions until April 7, 2027.
