MINSK, October 7. /TASS/. The integration of the capabilities of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states’ agencies helps expand broader security in and around Eurasia, head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center (ATC) Colonel General Yevgeny Sysoyev said at the Counterterrorism Forum in Minsk.
The forum brought together representatives of relevant authorities and experts from CIS and SCO member states for a series of conferences, as well as joint counterterrorism exercises.
The ATC head noted that the forum "is taking place against the backdrop of a complex international situation characterized by increasing geopolitical uncertainty and an unprecedented rise in military and political tensions, which are provoking global economic and humanitarian crises."
"The leaders of our countries, fully aware of the nature of the tectonic shifts taking place in the world, are taking measures to unite their efforts to jointly resolve conflicts and de-escalate global tensions, as well as to contain current and potential challenges and threats," he noted, citing as examples the decisions adopted at the Astana (2024) and Dushanbe (2025) summits of the CIS and SCO heads of state to establish the CIS+ and SCO+ formats, as well as the granting of observer status to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization at the Commonwealth of Independent States.
"By integrating our capabilities and aligning our positions on pressing international issues, we are taking confident, practical steps toward expanding our security perimeter, putting the concept of the Greater Eurasian Partnership into practice," Sysoyev emphasized.
