KURSK, December 20. /TASS/. A Ukrainian missile strike on the town of Rylsk in the Kursk Region killed six people, including a child, Kursk Region Interim Governor Alexander Khinshtein said.
"According to preliminary data, six people were killed, including one child. Ten people were taken to the Central District Hospital of Rylsk with injuries, including a 13-year-old child. All of them are under the supervision of doctors. Their injuries are classified as light," he wrote on Telegram.
According to the official, preliminary data show that damage was done to the House of Culture, Elementary School No. 1, the educational and residential buildings of the Rylsk Aviation College, offices of the SDEK package delivery service and the Ozon online retailer, the civilian registry office and windows in three apartment buildings.
"Several single-family homes and about 15 cars suffered damage," he said.
The interim governor called the shelling of Rylsk a huge tragedy and expressed condolences to the loved ones of the victims.
Khinshtein earlier said the Ukrainian strike occurred at 3:30 p.m.. Several HIMARS missiles were shot down, he said. Civilian facilities were picked as targets. The Russian Investigative Committee said it will investigate the strike as a terrorist attack.
