BRUSSELS, September 23. /TASS/. Russia does not recognize unilateral coercive measures, and any unfriendly actions will not go unanswered, the Russian Permanent Mission to the EU said in a commentary published on its Telegram channel regarding the extension of restrictions against Moscow.
"We view the EU's anti-Russian restrictive measures as illegitimate and unfounded, aimed at harming our country. The Russian Federation does not recognize such unilateral coercive measures," the mission noted, emphasizing that "all such efforts by the EU are a waste of time and energy." The mission pointed out that, "judging by reports in media close to EU circles, the adoption of this decision [to extend sanctions] was clearly difficult for the member states and resulted from serious internal tensions and disagreements."
"For our part, we declare that any unfriendly actions against Russia will not go unanswered," the commentary stressed.
On Tuesday, the EU Council decided to extend individual sanctions against Russia for three years, until September 22, 2029. These measures apply to more than 3,000 individuals and legal entities.
