Seoul Korea slaps more sanctions on Russia, North Korea

The sanctions affected two North Korean generals as well as several entrepreneurs and their businesses in the DPRK

SEOUL, December 17. /TASS/. South Korea has imposed sanctions on 11 individuals and 15 entities in Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) for what Seoul described as bilateral "illegal military cooperation," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK) announced.

The measure comes in the wake of a joint statement by Western foreign ministers on cooperation between Russia and North Korea. Moscow has repeatedly denied accusations of maintaining illegal military ties with Pyongyang.

The sanctions affected two North Korean generals as well as several entrepreneurs and their businesses in the DPRK. Also, 13 Russian companies and seven individuals are on the list.

The latest restrictions come into effect on December 19.
