Ukraine's losses, compensations to residents: situation in Russia's Kursk Region

Over the period of fighting in the Kursk frontline area, the Ukrainian army has lost over 41,400 troops, 242 tanks, 182 infantry fighting vehicles, 126 armored personnel carriers and 1,276 armored combat vehicles

MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces have lost up to 540 servicemen in the Kursk area over the past day, with the total number of enemy losses since the fighting began in the region amounting to more than 41,400 troops, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

Over 4,300 displaced residents of Russia’s Kursk Region have received compensation for rent for a total amount of more than 145 million rubles ($1,396), Andrey Belostotsky, the region's acting deputy governor, said.

Operation to destroy Ukrainian forces

- The Russian Armed Forces defeated the Ukrainian formations near Guevo, Lebedevka, Leonidovo, Malaya Loknya, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novaya Sorochina, Pogrebki, Russkoe Porechnoye and Sverdlikovo.

- Strikes by operational-tactical and army aircraft and artillery fire hit enemy manpower and hardware in the Kursk and Sumy regions.

- The operation to destroy the Ukrainian formations continues.

Ukraine's losses

- Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian army's losses totaled over 200 military personnel, three tanks, including two British-made Challenger tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, including German-made Marder IFV, two armored personnel carriers, an armored combat vehicle, nine motor vehicles, an artillery gun, six mortars and an electronic warfare station, the ministry said in a statement.

Compensation for housing

- Over 4,300 displaced residents of the Kursk Region have received compensation for rent for a total amount of more than 145 million rubles ($1,396), Andrey Belostotsky, the region's acting deputy governor, said.

- All residents of the Kursk region's border areas who were forced to leave their homes due to Ukraine's massive attack continue to receive payments of 75,000 ($722) and 150,000 rubles ($1,444), Belostotsky added.
