Russian troops encircle Velikaya Novosyolka community in Donbass area, says official

It is premature to say that Russian troops have approached the outskirts of the community or battles for it have begun, Vladimir Rogov said

MELITOPOL, December 10. /TASS/. Russian troops have encircled the community of Velikaya Novosyolka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) from the south and the east, Chairman of the Civic Chamber Commission on Sovereignty, Patriotic Projects and Support of Veterans Vladimir Rogov told TASS on Tuesday.

"In the area of Velikaya Novosyolka, a considerable expanse of land south of the community has been liberated. Therefore, Russian troops have almost completely enveloped Velikaya Novosyolka from the east and the south," he said.

However, it is premature to say that Russian troops have approached the outskirts of the community or battles for it have begun, he added.

Rogov told TASS on December 3 that Russian troops had liberated about 15 square kilometers of territory east of the settlements of Blagodatnoye, Storozhevoye and Neskuchnoye south of Velikaya Novosyolka.

Velikaya Novosyolka serves as a key logistics hub for the Ukrainian army, through which it receives reinforcements, ammunition and military equipment.
