DOHA, December 7. /TASS/. Russia will do its best to help bring relations between Turkey and Syria back to normal, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the Doha Forum.
"I have no doubt that relations between Syria and Turkey should be normalized. And we will do everything possible to help," he said.
The top Russian diplomat said Turkey is a "very influential actor" in Syria. He said there were talks to discuss a normalization of relations between Ankara and Damascus.
"There are some ideas that we would like to put into reality, so that Syria would be united in terms of territories, and we also want to secure the borders that now allow terrorists to infiltrate into Turkey. I think some agreements have already been an example of how we can solve this problem," Lavrov said.
Foreign ministers of the guarantor countries of the Astana format - Russia, Iran and Turkey - held talks on saturday amid a sharp escalation in Syria.
