MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Saturday called sanctions on surgeon Leonid Roshal a "sacrilege."
"How would someone explain this? Is it ignorance by the Westerners? It’s possible. Is it malevolence and hatred? It’s possible, too," she said on Telegram. "But I think there’s one more reason. This sacrilege must ultimately demonstrate what’s light and what’s darkness."
The European Union on Saturday imposed the 10th package of sanctions on Russia, placing restrictions on 87 individuals and 34 entities. They blacklist such people as Russian Human Rights Council Valery Fadeyev, surgeon Leonid Roshal, head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation Yevgeny Primakov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Moscow Region Vyacheslav Dukhin and Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatiana Moskalkova.
