MOSCOW, February 10. /TASS/. The revised concept of Russia’s foreign policy will be approved in the near future, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday, replying to a question as to whether the document had been approved by Vladimir Putin.
"That will happen in the near future, we are awaiting [it]," the Kremlin official said.
Last fall, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Security Council said that the document was in the process of being finalized and coordinated. The Security Council also noted that the concept would reflect a new approach to relations with the West. In December, Putin discussed the draft of the revised concept at a briefing session with the Council’s permanent members. Previously, the draft was on the agenda of a similar meeting back in January of 2022 but back then it was returned for revisions.
Earlier, Putin said that it was planned to enshrine the specific directions of foreign policy and diplomatic work in the new version of the concept. According to him, this document and Russia’s previously approved national security strategy will serve as a roadmap for the Foreign Ministry and other ministries and agencies.
