Curfew may be declared near contact line in four regions — lawmaker

"The curfew will depend on the intensity of hostilities," Viktor Vodolatsky stressed

MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. A curfew might be declared in many residential areas in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, the Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions that are close to the armed conflict, Viktor Vodolatsky, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Ties with Compatriots, told TASS on Wednesday.

"The curfew will depend on the intensity of hostilities," he said. "If it continues with the same intensity, a curfew is possible specifically in those cities, towns, and areas which are adjacent to the combat zone."

Earlier on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Security Council, held via video conference, that he had signed a decree introducing martial law in Russia’s four new regions. Under the Russian Constitution, in the event of aggression against Russia or an imminent threat of aggression, the president can declare martial law nationwide or in certain areas, immediately notifying both houses of Russia’s parliament (the Federation Council and the State Duma).
